The Barrix

“Uncle Harvey said it was in doc 4 waiting for us.” I said as I stayed close to Hasper.She looked around looking for the right doc. But with no luck. She looked a bitflustered and wished that we were not lost.

“Manthis is a mess. I mean I can’t even think straight right now. Karin can you please lead the way from here?” Hasper asked.

I took her by the hand and we began to walk towards the docs at least from thelast place I remembered where the Estella had been at. it  It was doc 9 but we wanted doc 4. Finally after passing some huge crates that were to the side we found the docs we were looking for.

“There they are, Hass-sissy.” I said.

Hasper looked a bit relieved to see the docs and the ships. I was too. And there wasdoc number 2 in front of us so we just had to go right and we would hit doc 4within seconds of walking. After we past doc 3 that had a huge ship ported init. We finally saw it, The Barrix Honor. And the type of ship it was anRLS-class Fast Frigate type of ship. As in it was a smaller type of gun shipthat could hold out in a battle with at least 3 to 4 other ships about itssize. And not to forget that it moved at a quicker pace then some ships thatwhere larger. So all in all it sort of reminded me of the Estella in size ofhow many decks it had. Our old home had 3 decks one on top and two down below.But as I looked at the ship through my light lavender eyes I could see it was abit shorter than a Schooner type.

Weboth saw that the plank to climb aboard was there, so we both assumed we couldgo on now to meet the crew. Hasper told me to wait here for a bit while shewould talk with the captain. There was a silence for about 10 seconds when outof nowhere I heard Hasper scream. I ran up the plank to see what was going on. Thereon the ground was Hasper with a stunned look on her face and just a few feetfrom her was a monkey?

"Ohyou have got to be kidding me….” I thought to myself “Don’t tell me this islike the Black Purl?” I said out loud this time.

Themonkey seemed harmless as I got a better look at him. I was about to help Hasperum when out of nowhere another surprise came out at us!

Upfrom above us in the crow’s nest we saw a figure of what looked like a younghuman boy? And the next thing I knew was down he came shouting out, “Yahoo!”

Helanded with a light tap from the rope he had swooning down from and he had abig goofy grin on his young face. He could not have been no more than fourteen to fifteen years of age. He was not very tall either, he looked to be a few inches shorter than me. I then studied his outfit real fast he wore a green bandana around his forehead, for his top half he wore a green short sleeved hooded jacket with pockets in the fount. Underneath that was a dark blue shirt with a silver bird printed on it. And over his shoulder he carried what looked like a glider of some sort and a weapon too. For his lower half he had blue jeans with a brown belt and light blue shoes with white strips. For his looks he had dark somewhat spikey brown hair, he also had brown eyes and his nose had a unique shape to it.

He then spoke. “Hi there and welcome to the Lee Hino Honor ship. The names Lee Hino at your humble service.”

Both Hasper and I looked at each other in a bit of confusion. Hasper got up standing straight and said to the boy named Lee. “Excuse me but I thought this was ship was called the Barrix Honor?”

I too thought the same thing just then a young female voice came from behind us and said, “Lee-kun what do you think you are doing mixing up the name of the ship. The captain will not like that.”

I turned to see who the voice belonged too. It was of a young teenaged girl she seemed to be about the same age as the boy but looked a little younger. She had on a long white dress with a pink butterfly printed on it and at her hips she had a brown belt that held on one side what looked like a small dagger, on the other side was a pouch and even a flute was held onto the belt.  She also had a flower hair pin in her long wavy light brown hair. Her eyes were big and innocent looking as for the color they were a lovely shade of green. She had small dimples in her cheeks when she smiled at us. Over all she seemed like a sweet girl. But the final thing I noticed from her was that she was bare footed. Unsure why she was like that? But then my thoughts came back to the question Hasper had asked.

“So he’s mixing the names up of the ship?” I asked the young girl.

She nodded her head and then said in her sweet sounding voice, “It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Karin Rhodon and this is ship is actually the Barrix Honor.”

“Oh man now my game is ruined.” Said the boy named Lee.

“Well you know Captain Barrix will not be happy that you did that. And not only that Lee-kun you are making it hard for these to young ladies to know what is the truth.” The girl called Karin put her hands on her hips and looked a bit displeased.

The young girl then gasped and said to me and Hasper, “Oh I am so sorry. I did not ask for your names. How rude of me.”

Hasper went first, “Well my name is Hasper Stone, and this is my younger sister Karin Sohma. I don’t know if your captain told you yet or not but today we are joining this crew. Under my father’s orders Harvey Stone. Who works for the Magic Kingdom.”

“Oh yeah Cap did say something about that this morning I think. Didn’t he Karin?” asked Lee.

“Yes he did. And it is so very nice to meet you both Miss Hasper and Miss Karin was it?” she asked me.

“Y-yes that is my name Karin. Its funny how we both have the same name.” I said with a small smile.

Then the young girls eyes grew with excitement. “Oh boy I really can’t believe we have the same name. This is the first time I have met anyone with the same name as me. I- I am so happy right now!” Karin seemed to be very happy indeed.

That was when an idea came to me. “Ah-ha!” I said, of course confusing the other three. “Um what I mean is an idea just came to me. I will go by what I was called from our old crew Rin. That way other’s will not get confused with our names.”

Karin’s eyes grew bright again and she said, “That does sound like a wonderful idea. Umm then may I call you Miss Rin-chan?”

Now that was a first I thought to myself. “Sure it’s alright with me.” I said with a grin on my face.

Just then Lee spoke up, “Hey hate to disrupt but the Captain and the others are coming back.”

“That is good to know. I need to talk to him.” Said Hasper with a more serious look on her face.

I heard three sets of foot steeps fallowed by what sounded like small wheels also coming up the plank and even a hovering type of noise too. And there stood a man, two young women, a flouting robot, and last was little robot on tractor like wheels. This was the rest of the crew is what it looked like to me.

My first look was towards the captain, for his outfit he wore a white t-shirt, a black vest that looked to be a bit tattered underneath the brown cloak he had on and he had on black finger less gloves too. His bottom half he wore a belt
and kaki colored knee high shorts with a ton of pockets and his shoes he wore were black with white strips. He also had goggles on his head but the left lens was cracked a bit. On his back he carried a weapon that looked like a gun blade. For the look on his face was calm he still held a tense look in his silvery blue eyes. His brown short spikey hair blew in the wind that was starting to pick up. He looked at both me and Hasper in a stern matter and then spoke up by clearing his voice.

“You two young ladies must be from the Estella correct?” He asked in a somewhat deep tone of voice.

Hasper then walked up to him and bowed her head into greeting him. “I am Hasper Stone the only daughter of Harvey Stone. It is an honor to be aboard your ship captain.” She looked up at him waiting for his reply.

He then said, “Yes thank you Miss Stone. It is also an honor to have you and the other young miss as a part of our crew. We all welcome you aboard the Barrix Honor. I am your captain John Barrix, and this is my younger sister Sakura Barrix also my first mate.” He moved a bit to the side for Hasper and I to see his sister who was called Sakura Barrix.

She looked to be about sixteen in age. She also looked to be about as tall as me too. For her outfit she wore at the top of her head a blue cap and for her top she had on a gray long sleeved jacket with black strips at the hems and the
caller. Underneath it was a white shirt with a pink flower printed on it. She also wore black finger less gloves. The bottom half of her outfit was a navy blue mini skirt and under that she wore skinny blue pants and had grey shoes with
white strips. Her hair was long straight and black she had ocean blue eyes but over her left eye she had a scar and you could also tell she was blind in that eye from a closer look or if you had really good eye sight. She seemed like a very gentle person indeed.

She then spoke up after her brother John put a hand on her shoulder, indicating it was alright. “M-my name is Sakura Barrix…. It’s very nice to meet you both.” She had a calmer look on her face now after speaking out.

John then said, “And this is one of our other crew members Takako Hyayshi.”

Takako looked to be about in her twenty’s much like the captain did too. She had long blond hair in a low ponytail. Her outfit she wore was a white top to were the sleeves were long and a bit puffy. Underneath it was what looked like a blue tank. For her bottom half she had on a belt short brown shorts and black laggings underneath and light brown knee length high boots. Here eye shape was unique for they were a slanted shape and a very light but piercing blue color. She also had a look in them that said “don’t mess with me.”

All Takako said was, “Welcome to the crew.”

Lastly Hasper and me were introduced to the two robots that had come back on the ship. The big one that flouted was named V.I.N.cent. He was round shape and had orange color in places around his head. For his arms they looked to be like a track beam could come out of them or even lazar guns would fit.

For the smaller robot his name was Wall-E he was cute for a little guy. He had a goggle shape like head and small claw griper like hands and for his body shape was a square shape and he had little tractor like wheels to keep him moving.

After everyone who was on top of the deck was introduced to Hasper and me. I then introduced myself to the captain. “I am Karin Sohma its nice to meet you and the other crew members today. But since there are two of us that have the same name ill just be going my Rin, if that is alright with you and everyone?”

John seemed fine with the idea. So did everyone else on board. “Alright then we will be leaving this port within the next few hours so I want everyone to be sure that we have everything ready before we leave. And one last thing. Miss Stone.” John said.

“Yes captain Barrix?” she replied.

“You are in charge of Miss Sohma for she will be the cabin girl of our crew.”

“Yes understood captain.” Said Hasper.

Did my ears hear wrong? There was no way in the world I was just made the cabin girl?! I was now starting to get a bit annoyed with what the captain had just made me on his crew. Shirley they did not need a cabin girl and first off therewas no such thing right? I knew there  was the term cabin boy but not cabin girl. Just what was going on here? I had to know and it was driving me up the wall not knowing.

The next thing I knew was I was rushing up to face captain John Barrix who I justmeat and did not know a thing about. “Wait Captain there must be a mistake.” I said as I stood in front of him. I know saw how tall he was he must have been nearly six feet in height. But that is not what made me cower away a bit in fear. It was the look in his silvery blue eyes that made me think twice about stopping him so fast.

“Yes Miss Sohma?” He asked in his deep voice.

That was another thing that was really making me boil up too was being called Miss Sohma. I really did not want to hear it again. So I replied after taking in a breath of air. “Uh yes about being called Miss Sohma…I really don’t like being called by that name.” I could feel my face twitching a bit out of frustration.

“Well then Miss Rin. I do not like being called out to unless it is captain Barrix. Do you understand?”

That was it. I then snapped out at him. “Okay captain Barrix I’ll get straight to the point. I do not see why I have to be put on the lowest part of the food chain on this crew as the cabin girl? And the last time I checked there is no such thing as a cabin girl. There is only cabin boys. So I suggest you stop making up crap on this ship!” I was now huffing and puffing after I said all that.

John seemed to be taken aback by what I just said so did everyone else who was on deck who heard it all. The next thing I knew was Hasper called out my name in her scary angry voice.

“KARIN SUMIRE SOHMA!!!” she bellowed out as she came stomping over to me and John. “Oh snap not the middle name….” I thought to myself. She then pulled me by my ear and stomped off with me being somewhat dragged behind.

Every one including John seemed to be a bit scared by the way Hasper was acting up. After we were both a good distance away from the others. She began to lecture me about my behavior.

“Karin Sohma how dear you act that way in front of a captain and at your age too. You know better than that. How old are you?” she asked in a very disappointed tone.

“Old enough to act like an adult.” I said as I looked away from her gaze and onto the floor.

I knew what I had just done could have been well taken more adult like instead of me being so damn stupid and snapping like that to John Barrix. Or anyone for that matter. I then felt Hasper’s hand on my head as she gently rubbed the top of my head.

“Hass-sissy?” I called to her.

“Look Rin its going to be okay from here on out for you and me. We just have to stick together. I know it’s going to be a bit of a bumpy ride now but you got me and I got you. And this new crew will also become like a family in time I am sure of that. So just hang in there okay.” Hasper hid her face for I knew she was trying to cry.

“Hass-sissy ill do my best form here on out. Not just for the crew and captain but for you too!” I said as I gave her a hug.

She sighed and gave me a hug back and said. “That is what I want to hear. Now you should go and let our captain know that you are very sorry and something like this will not happen again.”

I looked up at her and nodded in agreement. We parted from our hug as I walked back to where John was still standing. He looked a bit nervous now. But he still stood his ground as captain.

“Captain Barrix,” I said while looking away a bit feeling my face was flushed. “I am very sorry about the way I spoke to you just now! And I promise that something like this will not happen again. Ever!”

He then sighed and said in a stern voice. “Very well since it is your first day here on my ship. I will overlook this matter just this once. Otherwise you will have to face a punishment like everyone would if they disobeyed my orders. Is that clear Miss…Rin?”

I looked up at him and said with a calm gaze, “Yes sir.”
